    Tesla Model S Plaid

What's the delivery date for the Model 3? When you get a VIN assigned you'll be getting close. Performance models tend to get delivered faster than the standard due to demand.

  2. I can’t answer most of your questions. I am a fan of technology and advancement not politics. At this point I don’t have any use for either side. Hydrogen fuel cells may win out eventually but EVs are here for now and probably for a good while.

The problem that I have seen first hand with solar and farming in general is the landowners kids have no interest in continuing to farm. This particular individual saw it as a way ultimately preserve his land and still get paid. He was leasing for 50 years but will own the land. This was in East TN. How do you farm when no one who wants to be a farmer?

That's great!   When I was at the Toyota dealer, a hybrid had a coolant leak and it ruined the "transformer" or something.   The parts/labor estimate totalled the car.

Cars and parts fail. No matter what model or make. Cadillac XLR tail lights failing will total the car out too.

It’s about the bottom line, not politics for me.

When I seen I could literally pay the car note with the savings from gasoline, oil changes, etc., and gain a more reliable nearly maintenance free vehicle that I don’t even need to stop for gas (saves time — charge at home while you sleep), it was a no brainer.

Now add this car will knock off 11 sec 1/4 mile ET’s all day, makes it a fun AWD car to daily that isn’t breaking valve train, breaking transmissions, leaking oil, over heating in summer heat and traffic, etc.

The Model 3 Performance is as fast as  my Camaro SS was with heads, cam and valve train, DoD delete, CAI, injectors, fuel pump, flex fuel sensor, full kooks 3in exhaust with Kooks LT’s,  3400 stall converter, tune., etc.

We bought our Y when Trump was still in office. I have been amazed to watch the disdain for EVs that is mostly political. Nobody said a word when we first bought it now I don't really even care to drive it due to perception. Unless we are going as a family I usually take my tahoe.

We have saved a ton of money compared to her old G37 coupe she had before the Y. Between the premium and mileage it really does start to pay for itself.

    Ordered a Model 3 Performance.

    These mofo's are not cheap!

How much did installing the wall charger run you?

How much does it run you to charge from home, from say 20% or a typical charge for you? How often do you charge?

I looked a 3 Performance but would've sold the CTS to justify it so I decided against it.

I know a commercial electrician who did it for me for $125. All he had to do was drop it out of my panel so it was mostly parts and half hour of labor. Charging is around 0.09 a KW so you can figure out how much it costs pretty easily. Her Y is a 75kw so it's probably from $3-5 to charge per day. We do typically charge it daily since she commutes to Nashville and as it gets colder you will want to leave it plugged in to help warm up the battery. Her office also has 5 or 6 tesla chargers that she uses to save a few extra dollars while at work. Rule of Thumb on the Tesla pages is ABC Always be Charging.

Oh, and if I can't get a L then I'm keeping my gas F150 to tow and haul with.

This is just to diversify my transportation and get a DD I don't need to gas up so when Biden stops using SOR and prices skyrocket back up, the car note will be offset by not having to buy gas. It would actually save me money. Right now at current gas prices, I'd break about even.

With gas, oil changes, maintenance, etc., I spend on average $700 to $1k a month for the gas powered vehicles (depending on gas prices). Charging a EV for 300 plus miles from home is like $7.

There are Day 1 reservation holders who are still waiting to order a Lightning. Unless you pay a heavy markup/resale I'd say good luck finding one in the next 1-2 years. My wife drives to Nashville and we have saved significantly with her Model Y.

Maintenance on an EV? After roughly two years and 42,996 miles, my wifes Y needs a set of tires.  😄

    Car looks super clean!

    Next stop, 1/4 mile? 😀

Thanks. Looks good from 5-10 feet. If I keep it I'll probably get it re-sprayed at some point and get a new front bumper.

Nah probably wont ever see the strip. Between the wheel hop and the glass diff it's probably a bad idea just to go run a 12-13 second quarter mile. 😅 Would like to get it on a road course one of these days after it's all sorted out.

I have the capability. Do you just need the bore opened up to 70.3mm? That should be a fairly straight forward job on the Bridgeport.

Pretty much. Easiest route is to re-drill the stock rotors and machine the wheels to the C5 hub bore so that's the plan for now.

  9. Build recap: Advanced Induction 243s with AI 228/232 cam and BTR top end. Milled the heads to bump compression slightly over stock. Shacklett cleaned up the mickey mouse work done by a previous shop and re-assembled with ARP rod bolts and stock bottom end. LS7 clutch and flywheel and 100k mile stock T56. My wife's cousin and I (mostly him) put it all back together.

  10. We got the car running last year before my son was born in  Jan. 21. Still needs to have the tune dialed in but the car runs great and only has a minor power steering leak. Next up is the 5 lug swap. Does anyone have the capability or know a machine shop that will open up hub bores? Corvette hubs are 70.3 and factory v2 wheels are 66.9. Haven't decided on wheels yet but may still need to open up the hub bore based on lack of available wheels for 5x120/corvette hub bore.

Power Tour is car and truck overload.  I've seen some awesome cars and trucks and met some really awesome people.  The LaQuinta Inn in Hoover, AL is not so awesome.  On to Pensecola tomorrow.

We had no idea but we were in Navarre Beach and went to Pensacola when it came through. We went with my wife's cousin, wife, and his kid so we got to check out a few cars near the restaurant we ate at. Started seeing all of the cars and knew something was going on. He's the one who helped get my V1 back on the road so it was a nice bonus to the beach trip.

It's trying to look like a Copperhead.  I'd pet it with birdshot as a reward for it's efforts.

I'd say he's doing his best cottonmouth impression but doesn't have that viper head. He looks close enough that I wouldn't mess with him regardless. Get that close to a cottonmouth and he might mess with you.

JohnC: Mags will be attending CCA (Community Christian Academy). We agree that we don’t want public school, but I do want her in a school-setting. This way, we know that she is being taught the Bible, in school, and not garbage that culture and the state are pushing.

Slim: We went to Orange Beach for the first time, in January. We loved it.

Orange Beach is a great little area. It's growing fast but still a lot quieter than some of the beach towns. We've been going since 2015 or so. If you didn't check out The Gulf it's a great spot on the beach for burgers/fish tacos, etc. That's where the photo was taken.

    Thanks, man! 🙂

Let me know when you get the F150. Might come have a look. Definitely get me a report on range an dhow long it takes to charge it. Oh, and a 1/4 mile timeslip!

I haven't decided if I will follow through but I am going to entertain it, especially if gas continues to rise. My problem is price. My preferred package is a lariat with extended range battery which is 79k after destination. Currently have a 17 Tahoe and not sure I am ready to give it up yet. Based on my reservation I should be in the 23 model year but we'll see. Ford of Murfreesboro kind of sucks. If anyone has a contact at a local Ford dealer I'd be happy to talk to them about moving it. I get more info from the news/web than my sales guy.

Also have a reservation for Silverado EV 😅

  15. This place lives on. Hope everyone is doing well.

We save a ton of money with the wife's Model Y and her daily commute to Nashville. I've got a reservation in for the F150 but who knows if I'll ever get an invitation to order.
