  1. Good!  Keeping up with a 6 year old at Christmas and getting to drive my car, so all is well.  I was worried that some of the folks on here might have been affected by the tornadoes.

Chloe is a girly girl, so I had a feeling the car looking cool would be negated by too loud. Lol

Mags is really girly, too, which is another reason why I was surprised.

Here is the car with my granddad’s truck.  It was his mom that gave me the car.  We lost Hinepa a year ago.  Also, my wife and daughter had this keychain made for me.

  3. Last Saturday, my little girl (now 6yo) spent the night with my mom.  The look on her face when I picked her up for church, in it, and riding around with her are all I care about with it.  As long as it sounds good and the family can get in it to go get ice cream or pizza is enough for me.

  4. It is still surreal, but after 25 years, my Nova is back together and driveable.  I still have a few bugs to work out, a few more things to by, and some bodywork and paint, but it is back together.  I feel like I’m 16 again.  It’s a dream come true.

This car was my first car.  It was bought, new, by my great-grandmother from Wilson Chevrolet on Broadway in Paducah.  When she turned 90, her insurance doubled and she didn’t want to pay it, so she gave me the car.  My grandfather used to drive us to church in the car.  I wrecked it in 98.  After periodically working on it, over the years, I finally came to the conclusion that I could not get it back together.  I called a buddy who had recently went into business for himself to contract him to put it together.  When I asked him about money, his reply was, “Man, you’re like my brother and you’re closer than my actual family.  I can’t charge you.”  I can’t thank him enough!IMG_8983.thumb.jpeg.9efb6a8d81e6526ac5743a7e1e74ac18.jpeg

  5. Not to brag or anything, but I actually really enjoy my job.  I have great people around me, the whole company (approx. 1100 people) acts like a big family, pay is good, and I have a four day work week.  I couldn't ask for much more.  Then, I have the church.  Things are amazing, there, as well.

    Want some drama?

This afternoon I was 1/2 dozing and heard a faint siren.   Looking at the highway I see cars parked everywhere, my oldest son's truck in the road ditch. ??? !!!!    I ran barefoot near the road to find his truck perfectly fine, but two vehicles wadded up on the other side of the road, my son helping attend to people.

It was about a 2010  Ram head on versus some SUV and the SUV was on its passenger side.   There were about 15 bystanders providing help.  Turns out one son had come into the house to get the kitchen extinguisher for someone to put out a small fire, while the oldest son helped break glass and pull broken people out.   He saw two people breathe their last.

The Ram driver died.  He'd been heading toward McMinnville TN with two other vehicles, one was an old RV driven by his brother, the other a truck driven by that brother's wife.

They were on scene shortly after the man died, and as that brother knelt and mourned his dead brother, there was my son knelt down with him with his hand on his shoulder.    *I've gotta wipe my eyes*

My son described a little about what he did, trying to tear through the front windshield to access two people in the SUV.  His hands were cut up from the glass, but he'd not realized anything at the time.  I told him how in a panic a body can do stuff, and he did good, but remember to slow down to think.

Ross did some serious man stuff!  I'm proud of the way he selflessly responded.  He showed JESUS to those folks.

  7. 10 years ago, today, I woke up planning to go to physical therapy and a doctor's appointment so that I could be released to go back to work after a long bout with a pinched sciatic nerve.  Instead, I started sweating profusely and suffering from shortness of breath.  Rather than going to therapy, I was taken to an urgent care connected to our local hospital.  There, they ran (literally) to the ER and started testing for heart attack.  After finding "mass quantities of blood clots in both lungs and both legs," I was admitted and spent 16 days in the hospital, nine of which in the ICU.  That day was the first time I nearly died in this adventure.  The second was when they released me.  My dad was with me while I was being wheelchaired to the door where I planned to meet my wife who was getting my truck.  Instead, I only made it to the nurses station where I passed out in the wheelchair.  That started chapter two.  I was wheeled back to my room, underwent more tests and found that I was severely anemic.  We didn't know it, but the ibuprofen I had taken for my back had caused ulcers.  When they put me on the blood thinners, I bled out internally.  It took 9 units within 48 hours to get me to the low end of the normal range.  It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since GOD and my family carried me through this

I've been kinda wanting a 1988-1998 GMT-400 short bed.  One of my employees was telling me about a 1997 Chevy stepside that his dad just bought for $3500.  He said it has 75k miles and is a near perfect garage kept truck.  I told him to tell his dad I'd give him $2000 profit on the truck.

    That’s a steal!

I thought I'd go ahead and take out the intake manifold bolts.  I had great success taking 9 of them out.  The one in front on each side broke.  Comparing the broken length to the other bolts, the rest should be sticking ouf of the engine block.  The very back one on the passenger side was broken already.  That broken bolt is shorter than the other two, so there's even more of it sticking up out of the engine block.  I'm going to wait until Saturday to pull the manifold so a buddy can help me with the lifting.  I'm hoping a little PB Blaster will do the trick.  If not, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Sounds like a perfectly good excuse to do a Gen 3 Hemi swap. 😉
