  1. Which begs the question: where is your flying field?
  2. Finally got around to picking up another RC plane. Still haven't flown one as the last one arrived as a badly damaged return from Amazon. This time I went to my local hobby shop and pick up this one: https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/aeroscout-s-2-1.1m-rtf-with-safe/HBZ38000.html WHile there I met a guy that does training and got his contact info. @Kevin i'm wondering how valuable this instruction is and what I should be expecting to pay for his services. He said he would set it up and get me in the air and flying. This is also the plane he recommended, which is why I chose this one as I was going to buy the Aeroscout Mini (again). Either way, looking forward to smoking the ground at a high rate of speed!
  3. By the time I heard registration was open, all of the Gold packages were already sold out. I don't want the hotels to be booked for me since I stay on points, so no Platinum for me. Hope I can get in quick enough next year to get the Gold.
  4. Had a great one! Took the fam up to Cincy to watch a ball game and generally relax. Loved every minute of it.
  5. Were you at the HRPT Kick Off party last Sunday?
  6. We had a blast! Thankfully, the AC was on blast as well. My word it was hot!!!! I set out in a totally untested new radiator and fan combo, and really hadn't even tuned the Holley HP engine management. The couple of hiccups I ran into was too low of idle rpm not spinning the alternator fast enough to turn on, and too low of idle timing. Bumped idle to 1000 and alt is happy and the timing kept the temps down too. Only other issue was the fuel pump (in tank AEM 340) would get too hot if ran too low. Twice at about 1/4 tank it stopped pumping. Let it cool for about 10 minutes and would come back to life long enough for me to get some gas. AFter it did that twice I just started filling just under 1/2 tank and never had another problem. My daughter had such a great time. I think at 5yo she's old enough to remember this. IF not, we'll do it again. Her highlights were the hotel pools and doing laps on the Atlanta Speedway. I got some video of that that i'll try to edit and upload. I have a list of things I want to change before the next one. Hopefully I can get at least some of them done! All in all, it was a blast. Can't wait to do it again!
  7. We're leaving the boro about Noon, hopefully. Driving my Lincoln. https://goo.gl/maps/wkL1ukN31TbsBfAEA
  8. I'm headed out tomorrow! Going to try to do the Long Haul with my 5yo. She's super excited so I haven't had the heart to tell her that the car is a POS that was put together by her Dad. She would be devastaed! Tuesday night, after the NSS event i'm having a HRPT BBQ at my house. You and Ronnie are welcome to come! Maybe put the Challenger on the dyno?!!
  9. My current camera is a Canon 80D. I may have budget to get a new body this year though. I can probably make the case based of of shutter count if needed. BUt I can probably get better photos if I just knew more about hwo to use it. I'll take some of the info JohnC provided and see what I can produce. Unfortunately, I can't post process my photos since they are/can be used in legal proceedings. Altering originals can get us in serious trouble, so I have to get the best raw images possible.
  10. Anyone here taken any photography classes in the Mid TN area? Myself and several of my coworkers all use DSLR cameras, and frankly none of us know how to use them. I always take a point and shoot with me to my inspections to make sure I get the shots I need since I frequently foul them up with the DLSR. Myself and other use Canon and the other two use Nikons FWIW.
  11. Figured out, yes. Implemented, probably not.
  12. Repair work will be heavily electrical. NEwer cars with all of the CAN nodes online can be chaotic. A shop that can quickly and accurately diagnose and repair electrical issues will be very successful IMHO.
  13. Literally, a Tennessee Watersnake.
  14. Siliconey it is! Thanks! How's the house coming along?
  15. I know I got questions, and i'm sure you all will too. So let's just have a thread where we can ask @Ashley P anything! I'll start: Dear @Ashley P, When assembling brake caliper pistons, what type of lubricant should be used? I hear brake fluid is a no no.
  16. Fit, Finish, Part quality, NVH. EV and tech is good. The car around it is not. It's hard to find real results for their quality. Some due to Tesla not sharing consumer info, also due to production numbers, and lastly due in a large part by the consumers themselves overlooking a lot more issues than your average consumer. https://www.jdpower.com/business/press-releases/2021-us-initial-quality-study-iqs This tells some of the story. IF they were on this list, they would be near dead last in initial quality.
  17. Teslas are 90% hype and tech. They lack a lot IMO before they can be a quality vehicle. Yes, they are insanely fast. Yes, they have cool gadgets and tech. But their quality is absolute shit. No way could Nissan get away with anything approaching how bad those cars are in the real world.
  18. I have a mulching attachment on my John Deere mower. It's a game changer for my yard.
  19. Who do we have to thank for that? I thought gas prices were well under $2/ga not long ago.
  20. True, but not near as cool.
