  1. This is how stupid is done (at least one side of the story):
  2. You still worried 'bout that? Chicken. You probably drive an automatic.
  3. 2008 Chevy diesel/Allison 4x4, 170k. Trans in limp mode. Code p0762 solenoid 3 stuck. A little testing and a little guessing.......pulled valve body out and apart. Found stuck valves. Picked them out, used 1200 sand paper to dress the valve and bores. Shifts good now. Customer knows the metal particles are coming from somewhere and this could be a temp repair, but he's happy now. It's a pretty service friendly trans, IMO.
  4. Cheaper/liighter to mount an LED on the plane that will illuminate at set voltage? My electronics knowledge is rusty, but a Zener diode would "turn on" at a set voltage.
  5. ^ More practice or... someone to hold your beer?
  6. This weekend I learned of yet another danger when operating a "bush hog" (tractor rotary mower): bumble bees. I learned they nest in the ground and don't like a tractor/mower and can quickly figure out the softest tissue to attack sits in the chair at the top of the machine. Said tissue had a hard time finding road gear, lowering the loader, raising the bush hog, and turning off the PTO while using both hands to swat bees.
  7. I need to research those issues you highlighted.
  8. I generally agree with those claims, Mr Jam. But I've explained to my kids that "the media" paints the picture that there are two sides, a "left" and "right" at election time. The picture is like two tug-of-war teams pulling against each other. The reality is that the tug rope is very unraveled, with strands pointing in almost every direction, and each "team" has some pull in lots of directions. That's because voters are people, with flaws and priorities that differ. Jammer, I like to challenge leftists' ideas. But I challenge my own and those I agree with. In that spirit, when you claim Trump is: ....ya need to be able to prove that. The "other side" would say "most hated". And they'll look at each other and laugh at you. And you and I can roll our eyes and laugh at them. But, that won't break the biases of "either side". HOW do we? (Believe me, I want to know. I've tried forcing open a leftists' skull and forcing facts into it, it hasn't worked.)
  9. What are the chances he'd watch that vid above and give you some feedback?
  10. Do you know them well enough to ask them about the logic behind that vote? I don't, so I can't get an idea if this video is correct.
  11. This dude is building a Corsair. I like where I live, but I might move next door to him......
  12. Oh, I'm pondering about making my island movable for the first few months to figure out where it's home needs to be. Possible leaving it movable.
  13. Counter top plugs? Like in the top? Remember I've got kids....how many spills will those tolerate?? lol I'm planning to have a short backsplash and plugs just above it. Several more plugs per counter than the house my folks built. 6' is big. I don't have that much room anywho. That's why I'm asking. If I put a 42" gap, a 24" island, I'll only have 33" between pushed back chairs at the table. I'm pondering a drop leaf island. I think 42" lets me turn around with one step. Two of us can pass by without bumping. And, if we get too fat to pass each other we'll get less food, hmmm.... thus a couple's girth is limited by that gap. (Rabbit trail/eureka moment right there, huh?) Thanks for ideas.
  14. Guys, I'll rant right with you. But.... ...I've looked into "confirmation bias" and I've read articles and watched Youtube vids and read the comments there. There are people "on the left" who are so deep into "their side of the story" that they say THE EXACT SAME THINGS that I would say about "them" (they're stupid, can't think, wouldn't change their mind with ANY info, ect). Confirmation bias affects "leftists" and "rightists" equally. To that end, I must constantly check MY ideas. We can (and should) talk about election fairness, BUT, how can people who are neck deep in their bias be reached?? If they can be reached, then they'd vote WITH us, demand fair elections WITH us, protect boarders WITH us, uphold the Constitution WITH us. Ect. The more I ponder on the divisions in this country (like "black" "Christian" voters who voted 90% for BIden, and "white" "evangelical" voters 90% for Trump) I wonder if it's a Spiritual thing like the "delusions" God put into the heads of various Kings in the Old Testament. Maybe the USofA is being torn apart to set up the "end times". IF so, then no efforts will fix the divisions.
  15. All great points that I agree with. I've been looking at some of the "mechanical" solutions to storage problems, like different corner cabinet options. Toe kick storage, fold up/down counter tops for extra temporary space. Any kitchens with islands? How many inches between it and the counter? 42" is my current goal.
  16. IMO, a 4.30 gear is ONLY going to help if you have a very sticky tire. And the "help" is not going to be very large as far as ET. Converter (or, preferably, a man pedal ) would help more. More opinion: you've got enough HP to move those 3.73 gears.
  17. 3 seconds in....a truck is a trailer. At 2:09, "two ton hunk of junk"?
  18. Current gear? Gonna have a harder time hooking a 4.30.
  19. Anybody got any kitchen (cabinet especially) pros/cons to share? Stuff you love, stuff you hate? John, what's in your new house?
  20. Check out big boy's seat flexing enough to bounce his head on the dash! (And/or loose seat belt.) @5:52
  21. I KNEW the China Communists would screw us over! "Angered by Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, China vows to retaliate against the USA by sending her back to the USA."
  22. Camala Harris said "the time for debate is over. Climate change is a...." No more talking. We're going to act. Fascism anyone?
  23. Planned to convert to HEI and knew to look at firewall clearance. Then I found out the intake runner said "NOPE!" to HEI. We'll stick with points. Got fuel supply filtered and finalized. Got boxes of brake parts to install.
  24. I've done cam changes 2 or 3 times. I've pulled the engines every time. Reasons: cams fail at the mileage where the oil pump pickup tube O ring is weak, and also the rear main seal is weak. With my cam changes all that gets replaced (and oil pan gasket) so there should be no problems for 10s of thousands of miles.
